Onboard Le Commandant Charcot (hybrid polar explorer scheduled to launch in 2021), guests will be able to take in panoramic views of the ice flow from the Blue Lagoon outdoor restaurant, participate in scientific research in the laboratory, or watch the polar expanses pass by in the conservatory, unique to this new polar exploration vessel!

Completed in 2020, the purpose-built PONANT EXPLORERS series consists of six small-sized expedition ships, with just 92 staterooms and suites. They feature the Blue Eye, a unique multi-sensory lounge, the only one of its kind, located in the hull below the waterline. They are each fitted with a movable marina platform, enabling guests to swim and engage in other activities directly from the ship. A submersible mini port also provides easy access to nautical activities (kayaking, paddle boarding and more).

In 2021 PONANT will welcome Le Commandant Charcot the world-first hybrid luxury polar exploration vessel powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). With just 135 cabins, including 68 suites with private balconies, the vessel will be the first PC2-class luxury polar cruise ship capable of sailing to remote regions of the Arctic and Antarctic. Thanks to this remarkable new ship, mythical destinations like the Geographic North Pole or the Bellingshausen Sea are now accessible to PONANT guests.
