Guests cruise with Coral because of the unique destinations, diverse shore excursions and expert-led programs.

Attracted by the relaxed small-ship atmosphere and itineraries that larger ships cannot replicate, this limited size maximises the expedition experience. Purpose-built Australian expedition ships are designed to showcase the places they visit in comfort and safety. The shallow draft and manoeuvrability of the small ships mean they can access coastal areas, bringing you closer to nature, culture and history.

Coral Expeditions’ modern-Australian cuisine is influenced by the culinary landscape of the regions visited. All meals are included, and chefs prepare the cuisine with a simple and generous approach to flavour, quality, and freshness. Fresh ingredients are sourced locally and sustainably wherever possible. Lunch and dinner are accompanied by a curated beverage list – the excellent house selection is supported by additional choice of Australian and New Zealand wines, beers and spirits, along with French champagne.

True to Coral’s Australian heritage, the ship environment is relaxed and intimate. There is no dress code or assigned seating at mealtimes. Complimentary coffee and tea stations are open throughout the day in the lounge and dining areas. With no in-room televisions, there are expansive indoor and outdoor lounge areas to relax, read, or chat to fellow guests. The open bridge policy encourages guests to visit the bridge and observe ship operations. The captains enjoy the open interaction they share with guests.

Small Ship Expedition Fleet

Coral Expeditions has built a fleet of world-class small ships. Purpose built for expeditions, they each have a shallow draught for coastal exploration, and blue water capabilities for ocean cruising.

On board you will discover a personalised style of cruising. With the ships carrying only 72 to 120 guests, you can say goodbye to queues, long waits and assigned seating. Instead, enjoy a relaxed, convivial atmosphere shared with like-minded explorers.

Coral Discoverer

Launched in 2005 and purpose-built for cruising in tropical regions such as the Kimberley, Coral Discoverer accommodates just 72 guests in 36 spacious staterooms and has a cruising speed of 14 knots. Coral Discoverer’s shallow draught allows it to access even the most isolated and remote locations we cruise, beyond the reach of other ships. She is known for her yacht-like, intimate and comfortable atmosphere.

Coral Adventurer

Launched in April 2019, Coral Adventurer accommodates just 120 guests in 60 spacious staterooms and has a cruising speed of 11.5 knots. With over 1000sq m of outdoor deck space to relax in, including a wrap-around promenade deck with panoramic views, Coral Adventurer allows incredible immersion in every new destination. Multiple indoor and outdoor bar and lounge areas, a well-equipped gym, and a passenger elevator creates an environment designed for guest comfort.

Coral Adventurer has captured the unique requirements of Coral’s guests, crew and incredible destinations. Combining it with the highest quality equipment and technology, this makes her ideal for sailing the Indonesian archipelago, Papua New Guinea, and the Kimberley coast.

Coral Geographer

The newest addition to the fleet, Coral Geographer arrives in 2021. The sister ship to Coral Adventurer, she will feature the same state-of-the-art specifications and expedition features. However, due to popular demand, the number of Bridge Deck suites has been increased to six, complete with horizon bathtubs.

Excursion Vessels

Equipped with a fleet of excursion tender vessels to simplify travelling ashore and enjoying water-based activities. Designed with flexibility and guest comfort in mind, inflatable Zodiacs, glass bottom boats and special Xplorer excursion tender ensure that all guests can travel to shore or explore hidden bays and inlets safely and comfortably. The unique tender deployment system featured on all vessels enables you to walk safely from the deck onto the tender for shore excursions.

The Staterooms

Onboard, the spacious staterooms are all outside facing, and many have private balconies. Coral Adventurer and Coral Geographer feature expansive Bridge Deck suites with horizon bathtubs. Decorated with large prints from Coral Expeditions explorations, Coral Adventurer and Coral Geographer also feature Indigenous art collections.

Activities and Shore Excursions

With a strong focus on visiting places off the beaten track, shore excursions are designed to promote local interaction and cultural exchange. One of the great benefits of travelling on a small ship is the ability to make impromptu stops when extraordinary opportunities present. Every day has at least one or two stops for water or land-based activities.

During your expedition enjoy educational lectures, art or photography workshops, cooking demonstrations, movie and trivia nights in between immersive destination-focussed shore excursions.

“Each day you will travel ashore and fully immerse yourself in the stunning landscapes, fascinating history and vibrant cultures of these remarkable locations.”

Jeff Gillies, Commercial Director, Coral Expeditions

Our Food

Coral Expeditions chefs are inspired by destination flavours, and prepare cuisine from fresh regional produce, while the wine cellars hold a curated selection of Australian wines and unique beers. Onboard cuisine is about simplicity and generosity, creating dishes bursting with flavour made from fresh ingredients sourced locally and sustainably wherever possible.

Coral Expeditions’ modern-Australian cuisine is influenced by the culinary landscape of the regions visited. Each of the spacious communal dining rooms has large windows to observe the view. New friends and beautifully remote destinations enhance the dining experience.

Aboard Coral Expeditions ships, dining rooms are adjacent to the galley and our chefs love to meet with our guests and have often shared recipes or cooking demonstrations.
